CHALLENGE:
Earshot jazz festival and been around in Seattle since 1989. The festival has talented musicians playing in venues all over town. The advertising needs to exude the feeling of jazz and the city hosting this festival.



APPROACH:

The solution was to create a symbiotic relationship between the city and music. I wanted to equate the city of Seattle with jazz, making them one and the same.

PROCESS:
After researching the jazz festival, I thumbnailed 35 sketches to generate ideas. My breakthrough was while looking at Mary Blair’s geometric illustration work. After finalizing the poster, I expanded the concept into varying festival merchandise. .
